TWIN JET ELECTROPOLISHER

Twin-Jet Electro polisher is developed for producing high quality thin foils of conductive materials. The electrolyte tank, sample holder, thinning cell and tank base stand are machined from polymers compatible with all electrolyte solutions to provide maximum resistance to corrosive electrolytes

Features

  • Produces high quality conductive TEM specimen of 3 mm diameter
  • System consists of electrolyte tank, specimen holder, thinning cell and tank base
  • Electrolyte is pumped from the tank using a motor driven impeller to impinge jets on the specimen from both sides
  • DC Power supply of 0-200v, 0-2A and control electronics housed in separate cabinet delivers the potential to the electrodes
  • A light source and photocell detector detects perforation to auto terminate the process
  • Specially designed specimen holder to hold 3mm diameter specimen to ensure sturdy rim of the specimen (Customized holders to hold smaller specimen are available)
  • Electrolyte is cooled using an immersed cooling coil through which liquid nitrogen can be delivered from a modified dewar flask
  • System can incorporate different types of electrolytes depending on the specimen material

 

Control Function: 

  • Control of the electrolyte flow rate
  • Control of the DC voltage to the electrodes
  • Illumination of the disc and detection of perforation followed by automatic cessation of electrolyte flow and dc current
  • Audible alarm to sound when perforation is detected
  • Real time graphical display of current versus time at the time from process start
  • Display of actual thinning time up to 999 seconds
  • PLC with 7″ HMI to Enable the Operation
  • Provision to store 50 recipes of various samples with their respective data such as material name, current, time, temperature, sensitivity, flow-rate for future reference

 

MDF-2.2L

  • Cryogenic Modified Dewar Flask with liquid nitrogen transfer hose with flow control valves & pressure regulator to enable control of temperature in the thinning unit from room temperature to -50 °C within ± 2°C

 

List of Electrolytes

  •  70% Perchloric Acid: 500ml, Nitric Acid: 500ml, Pure lab grade Methanol: 2.5L, Ethanol:1 L etc. are optionally available.
